New Chef at Alias - Press release

"A NEW FACE IN THE KITCHEN" - CHEF MARCELLUS COLEMAN

Chef Marcellus Coleman

Over the last few months there's been something stirring at Alias Restaurant on the Lower East Side - the wine list has been revamped, there's a great new choice of summer cocktails and there's a new face in the kitchen - Chef Marcellus Coleman - who has turned the menu in to a foodies delight.

With a pedigree background including stints at Aureole, 11 Madison & WD50, Chef Coleman was also a winner of the food network 'Chopped' series and has been touted as a rising young star on the NY culinary scene. His passion for food & flavor bursts through the new menu that he has created at Alias Restaurant.

Coleman and Alias area a perfect match. They both believe that 'Great food doesn't have to be expensive food' - You need only to try chef's seasonal, market-inspired dinner menu featuring dishes like an heirloom tomato and watermelon salad, the Montauk Fluke Crudo with summer melons and roasted heritage pork loin with summer squash and wheat berries to see what they mean!
True to its roots as the neighborhood restaurant, Alias continues to offer something for everyone. The Burgers and the Nachos stay as does the 3-course Sunday supper @ $30 and the weekday night rotating $20 Blue Plate specials, but don't be surprised if Coleman adds a little twist!
The owners of Alias Restaurant have a knack for spotting talent (Wylie Dufresne, Jason Neroni).
"We're excited to be working with Marcellus - his food is creating a great buzz in the neighborhood!" - says Janet Nelson, one of the owners of Alias Restaurant.
